Your First Appointment:

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

Therapy Clients:

Prior to your appointment, please complete the service agreement/intake form emailed to you

  • This session will usually last for 50mins
  • Your practitioner will come and collect you from the waiting area
  • They will then assess your current circumstances (reasons for coming to therapy, concerns, strengths, history, therapy goals etc)
  • They will begin building a relationship with you (and/or your child)
  • They may ask you to complete some questionnaires or measures
  • They will take payment for the session
  • You will then book additional sessions (bookings can be made with the practitioner, online, or via phone)

It is completely normal to be nervous at your first few appointments. If there are specific things the practitioner can do to help you feel more relaxed (e.g., having a fidget, sitting side by side, sitting on the floor etc), please let them know. Your first appointment (or two) will be a little different from subsequent ones. Subsequent sessions usually involve a check in/recap with you, reviewing out of therapy tasks (homework) and a continuation of things you have been working on together.
