SYMPTOMS YOU MAY RECOGNISE

ADHD shows up differently in everybody.

ADHD disrupts the executive functioning skills we rely on for task management, emotional regulation, and impulse control. Recognising the pattern is the first step toward a clear, formalised diagnosis.

Children
• Trouble sitting still or staying focused• Difficulty following instructions or routines
Teens
• Procrastination, avoidance or last-minute rushing• Emotional overwhelm, low motivation or restlessness
Adults
• Time blindness, forgetfulness or poor prioritisation• Mental restlessness, impulsivity or emotional dysregulation
Classroom setting
INATTENTIVE · 01

Concentration that slips during multi-step tasks

Frequent careless errors, drifting focus, or shying away from intricate tasks. Daydreaming and easily sidetracked.

DISORGANISATION · 02

Procrastination, avoidance & weak organisation

Tasks left to the last moment, items misplaced or forgotten, struggle to keep systems and routines in place.

HYPERACTIVE · 03

Restlessness, fidgeting, constant movement

Trouble staying seated when expected, frequent shifts in posture, a body that won’t quite settle.

IMPULSIVE · 04

Interrupting, blurting, speaking without pause

Answering before instructions are complete, struggle to wait for a turn, conversations that run away from you.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions.

Have a question that isn't here? Submit an enquiry below.

How long do appointments typically last?

Appointments typically last between 60 and 90 minutes. That is enough time for thorough assessment and discussion, never a rushed visit. Appointment 1 (Comprehensive Evaluation) is 60 minutes, Appointment 2 (Specialist Review) is 45 minutes, and Appointment 3 (Complimentary Psychoeducation) is 60 minutes.

What happens on the discovery call?

A free fifteen-minute chat with our team. We listen to what you're seeing, explain the right pathway for your situation, walk through Medicare rebates, and only book you in if it feels like the right fit. No referral needed.

What types of ADHD assessments are available?

We assess children (6–12), teenagers (13–17) and adults (18+), for both ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Every assessment uses the Conners Rating Scale framework and can be completed in-clinic or via telehealth.

How can I prepare for an ADHD assessment?

Gather anything that shows the pattern: school reports, work feedback, past clinical notes. For children, we'll send parent and teacher questionnaires ahead of time. Beyond that, just come as you are.

What age groups are served at The Psychology Hub?

We see children from age 4 for ASD assessment (age 6 for ADHD), teenagers, and adults of any age. The pathway and tools are tailored to each age group.

Can parents participate in the assessment process?

Absolutely. Parent and guardian involvement is built into every child and adolescent assessment, from questionnaires to the psychoeducation session where we walk through the findings together.

What follow-up services are available after diagnosis?

Follow-up specialist reviews, prescribing and treatment monitoring, a ten-session Dialectical Behaviour Therapy program, plus occupational therapy and speech pathology through our allied health team.

Where are your clinics located?

Our clinic is in East Melbourne, close to public transport with accessible parking. Families anywhere else in Australia can complete the full pathway via telehealth.
