Dr. Tamara Street


General Psychologist

Tamara has over 18 years of experience as a Psychologist working in private practice, hospital and educational settings. She provides mental health services to children (3+yrs), adolescents and adults.

Her primary therapeutic modalities are

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy,
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy,
  • Motivational Interviewing,
  • Solution-Focused Therapy, and
  • Mindfulness-based interventions.
  • Animal Assisted Therapy (with her lovely companion Arlo the Cavoodle)

Tamara draws upon Creative Child Therapy to achieve meaningful and engaging psychological therapy for children. She provides therapy for anxiety, depression and other mental health concerns as a Medicare provider, and also provides treatment for NDIS participants with Autism who are verbal (level 1 and 2) and with intellectual disability. Tamara also supports adolescents and adults with behaviour change in areas such as health, addiction, career, relationship, or lifestyle.

She is experienced in providing behavioural, learning, academic, and cognitive assessment and diagnostic services. Tamara takes a holistic view to development and is experienced in working with multi-disciplinary teams including occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dietitians, exercise physiologists, and teachers, to coordinate care and achieve optimal client outcomes.

She values continual learning for her own professional development and to contribute to growing and maintaining the high standard of practice in the psychology industry. In addition to her Bachelor of Psychology with 1 st Class Honours, Tamara has completed a Masters in Organisational Psychology and a PhD on Psychology and Behaviour Change. She has led many public health research projects and shared her applied knowledge through publications in academic journals and books. Tamara has contributed to the development of best practice in applied psychology through presenting at prestigious international conferences. She has also won excellence awards for her research contributions in applied psychology.

As a mother of two school aged children, Tamara understands some of the challenges children and families can face. She has a genuine desire to support the wellbeing of young people and their families. Tamara has a relaxed, calm, and client-centred approach. She believes in collaboration and empowers clients to harness their strengths to progress towards their goals.
